Marist Association
Since the formation of the new Province of Australia in December 2012, the term Australian Marist Community has been used to denote all members of the extended Marist community in Australia: the Brothers, their affiliates, people who self-identify as Marists, people who work in Marist ministries, people who volunteer or contribute in other ways to Marist ministries, and young Marists.
Marists of the AMC minister mainly through Marist Schools Australia (MSA), Marist Youth Ministry (MYM), Marist Youth Care (MYC) and Marist Solidarity (MSol). There are also teams and other staff in Vocations, Health & Aged Care, Music Ministry and Province Administration.
There has been a recognition for some time that Lay Marists need a clear and definite way to express their identity and sense of belonging. For this reason, a canonically recognised Public Association of Christ’s Faithful, The Marist Association of St Marcellin Champagnat, is being developed and will become a reality in 2015.
